Golf courses in Istria
Istria is Croatia's green, heart-shaped peninsula at the northern reach of the Adriatic, a place where vineyards, olive groves and Venetian hill towns roll down to a coastline of pine-fringed coves. Golf here is still a discovery rather than a crowded scene, and that is exactly its charm: just a couple of courses set against the warm Mediterranean light, so a round feels personal and unhurried. The best known is the Brioni Golf Course on the Brijuni islands, a heritage layout with a story that stretches back to the early twentieth century, played within a national park where the parkland setting and sea views give every hole a sense of occasion.
The climate is gentle and the season generous, with mild springs and long, sunny autumns that suit visitors who like to pair golf with good food and wine. A travelling golfer comes to Istria for the whole experience as much as the scorecard: morning on the fairways beside the Adriatic, an afternoon exploring Rovinj or Pula, and a table of fresh seafood and local Malvazija to finish. It is unhurried, scenic and rewarding.
