Cuddington Golf Club, known locally as Banstead Downs, is a well-regarded members' club set on the chalk downland on the southern fringe of London near Banstead. The downland setting gives the course a distinctive open, breezy character that differs markedly from the enclosed heathland or wooded parkland found elsewhere in Surrey. The turf drains quickly on the chalk subsoil, producing firm, fast conditions that reward controlled, thoughtful play. The course has a long history within the local golfing community and maintains strong competition and social programmes for its membership. Its elevated position offers expansive views across south London and the North Downs, adding to the appeal of a round here. Cuddington occupies an interesting ecological position, with the chalk grassland supporting a range of flora typical of this habitat.
