Musselburgh Links, The Old Golf Course

Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland

Musselburgh Links is the oldest playing golf course in the world, with documentary evidence of golf being played here dating to 1672, pre-dating even St Andrews' claim to the title. The nine-hole layout sits inside Musselburgh Racecourse on the edge of the Firth of Forth estuary and is administered by East Lothian Council, remaining open for public play at a modest green fee. It is a flat, traditional links with historic significance that far outweighs its modest yardage, and several holes are played on the old turf where champions of the past competed. A round here is less about challenge and more about walking in the footsteps of golf history.
