Golf de Cornouaille

Brittany, France

Golf de Cornouaille stands as one of southern Finistère's most distinguished courses, located at La Forêt-Fouesnant, 15 kilometres south of Quimper above the Bay of La Forêt. The 18-hole, par-71 layout measures 5,688 metres across undulating terrain and carries genuine history: the original nine holes were designed by Fred Hawtree in 1959, with his son Martin adding the second nine in 1993. The old nine features tighter, more compact greens demanding precise approach play, while the new nine opens up with larger, more receptive targets. From holes 9, 10 and 16, panoramic views extend across the bay to the Glénan archipelago. The clubhouse occupies the Manoir de Mesmeur, an 18th-century residence whose south-facing terrace overlooks a bay inlet — a fine setting for post-round reflection.
