De Hattemse Golf & Country Club

Netherlands, Netherlands

De Hattemse Golf and Country Club is a 9-hole course founded in 1930 and set on glacial sand ridges on the edge of Hattem in Gelderland, giving it an unusually varied and hilly character for a Dutch club. Four holes are routed through forest, while the remaining five open out into the broader IJssel landscape with long views across the river plain. The greens are small and elevated, guarded by bunkers, requiring accurate iron play and a deft short game. A centuries-old oak tree near the sixth hole has become the symbolic centrepiece of the club and features on its emblem. Three holes in particular are regarded among the finest individual holes on any 9-hole course in the Netherlands, making de Hattemse a destination well worth the journey for discerning golfers.
