Portland Course

The Portland Course at Royal Troon is the companion layout to the club's famous Open Championship links, offering visitors a genuine taste of Troon's golfing heritage on a course that is challenging in its own right. Situated alongside the main links, the Portland plays over similar coastal terrain with firm turf, natural bunkering, and the prevailing westerly winds that define golf on this stretch of the Ayrshire coast. While it does not carry the prestige of the Old Course, the Portland provides an outstanding links experience and is often the more accessible option for visiting golfers. The standard of presentation is consistent with a club of Royal Troon's standing, and the Portland is rightly considered one of the better secondary courses attached to any major Scottish club.
