Glyn Abbey Golf Club
South Wales, Wales
Glyn Abbey Golf Club is a rewarding eighteen-hole parkland course in the Gwendraeth Valley, developed on land reclaimed from opencast coal mining and transformed through an ambitious planting programme into an attractive and mature wooded setting. More than 35,000 trees were established as part of the course's creation, giving the layout a lush and well-defined character unusual for a course of its age. The 6,100-yard design by golf architect Martin Hawtree offers a varied test across rolling ground, and the club was recognised as Welsh Golf Club of the Year in 2009. Located in Carmarthenshire near Llanelli, Glyn Abbey is well placed for visitors exploring the western reaches of South Wales.
